In their company name, they called themselves a \u201cRefinery\u201d without actually being a refinery. Additionally, the defendant gold traders boasted that they operated Germany\u2019s largest gold portal, that they were far cheaper than banks and other gold traders, and that they had an external and independent audit carried out twice a year of the total quantity of gold bars and scrap gold items in their vaults, although such an audit did not take place in reality.
